Some interesting results:

2013 U.S. luxury vehicle sales

Brand Vehicles sold, 2013 Increase

Audi 158,061 14%

Bentley 2,964 28%

BMW 309,280 10%

Cadillac 182,543 22%

Jaguar 16,952 41%

Lamborghini 520 33%

Land Rover 50,010 15%

Lexus 273,847 12%

Maserati 4,768 75%

Mercedes 334,344 13%

Porsche 42,324 21%

Rolls-Royce 470 60%

Of note: (1) Mercedes and the CLA passing BMW (the late roll out of the 4 series and the i cars could not have helped).

(2) Cadillac's impressive numbers and percentage without the benefit of the excellent new CTS for most of the year. I expect their numbers to be even stronger for 2014 as a result.

(3) Jaguar's 41% looks impressive, but the amount of units sold says not so fast my friend. Nice to see good designs being rewarded though.

(4) Porsche's numbers looked very solid, and with their new CUV coming I expect another very strong year. I imagine the profit margin per car was enviable.

(5) Audi has to be disappointed ($3 billion in new investments says VAG is worried), they need the A3/S3 to be big hits. While excellent, their sedan models have been out for a while now and they really need to step up their SUV and CUV game in 2014.

(6) Who bought all the Lexus? While the percentage gain isn't very good (and may be worrisome that the older buyers of Lexus may not like the new design language much) to key question is "are new younger buyer's coming to Lexus?".

(6) this. I am really, really surprised to see them as close to BMW and Mercedes as they are.

Yeah, they kind of crushed Audi which is a surprise. But they sell a ton of those CUVs and SUVs. Be interesting to see what their average age was this year, and whether the redesigned cars are selling well (and to younger buyers).

Infiniti, Acura, and Volvo are notably missing. Were their sales down? Oh, and Lincoln. Sad little Lincoln.

+1, Note to Lincoln: A dressier outfit does not a luxury marque make

They didn't even make the cut of the source, so presumably they were down in a market that was strongly up. It makes sense as each of those brands has strong flaws Acura (poor and arrogant management, related bad designs, people don't want tarted up expensive Hondas, Lexus exists), Lincoln (poor business model, no real reason for existence), Volvo (very old models, everyone makes safe cars now, effect of new ownership?), Infiniti (the ALL Q disaster, the expensive Nissan problem, not sure why you would choose them over Lexus for anything).

If it wasn't for the dealers, I bet Ford would have already pulled the plug on Lincoln.

The CLA is a knock out hit. Im just happy that people are picking that instead of something horrible like a Prius.

(3) Jaguar is my shit, love to see them succeeding

(4) Porsche is really good at cars

Also, Maserati's investments in new models seems to be paying off, 75% is a lot.
